Mission Meow – A Novel Approach
In October of 2022 I took a phone call from Sally Williams, who was looking for feline-focused businesses to supporting the launch of a new initiative she was leading: Mission Meow – a cat-oriented charity with a novel approach.
A veteran of the charity world, she intimately knew its strengths – and its weaknesses. For one, she noticed that all too often there was excessive bureaucracy, which diverted money from the goal of actually helping cats. Additionally – all too often larger projects would continually get deferred because donation money would be spent sooner than it could be saved up for big, transformational initiatives. So she envisioned Mission Meow – a way for businesses to give charitably together – generating large sums all at once, all of which would go directly toward pre-planned and pre-budgeted initiatives at small cat-oriented non-profits. Every quarter new grant recipients would be chosen from applications across the country – sometimes one, sometimes several. And every quarter all the businesses would work together to raise money to fulfill those grants.
In other words, significant sums would be raised quickly, and immediately go toward meaningful transformation where it was needed.
Were we in? As you can imagine – we were. But would it work?
The Mission Meow Impact
In the 18 months that followed, the effectiveness of Mission Meow became evident through their delivery of targeted grants. Here are just a few examples:
-
Catsbury Park, as the first grant recipient after Mission Meow’s official launch, used their funds to more than double the size of their storefront. This expansion created medical isolation rooms and significantly enlarged the adoption area, enhancing their capacity to care for and rehome cats.
- Community Cat Club received $5,500 to expand their TNR efforts. This grant provided essential equipment that has already made a notable difference in their local community.
-
Kitten Snatchers in Philadelphia benefitted from a $5,350 grant that was put towards critical medical supplies. This funding has allowed them to treat conditions early, saving costs and improving the health outcomes for numerous cats.
-
FC3 Firelands Community Cat Coalition $8920This grant enabled them to purchase a large shed, HVAC and a concrete slab. This "building" gives them a safe, comfortable space for the cats to recover after spay/neuter surgery before they are released.TNR (trap/neuter/return) is vital to control feline overpopulation and a building like this is truly a game changer.
-
Runaways Animal Rescue received a grant of $15,000 to purchase all new cubbies for their intake room.
The results are consistent, concrete and speak for themselves. We are proud to be part of the family of brands that help make this mission possible – and now feel confident to share our partnership with our community! We’re committed to continuing our contribution to Mission Meow, helping them make real and meaningful change in the lives of cats.

All information about Mission Meow, their novel approach and awesome team can be found on their website! This quarter (Q3 2024), Mission Meow is raising funds to help For The Love Of A Paw (FLOAP) in Elloree, North Carolina, realize their dream of establishing their own clinic. This facility would provide essential medical support to cats recovering from spay/neuter surgeries. The goal is to raise $14,500, which will cover necessary updates and equipment for the clinic. Want to contribute? You can do so here!
